Amazon launched a wireless portable e-book reader called “Kindle” that weighs only 10.3 ounce. Kindle can store over 200 e-books, and supports standard SD memory cards as well; battery life is about 48 hours with the wireless feature on, and a week or more with wireless connectivity disabled. Most best sellers and new releases are priced at $9.99. Amazon claimed that buying and downloading a book via the wireless connection will take less than 60 secs. Kindle utilizes the same high-speed data network (EVDO) as advanced cell phones—so you never have to locate a hotspot. There’s no monthly wireless bills, service plans, or commitments—Amazon take care of the wireless delivery so you can simply click, buy, and read.
